How to Fix

Upgrade to HTTP/2 or HTTP/3 - both allow multiplexed, faster connections than HTTP/1.1.

Enter a URL to see which version of HTTP its server uses to deliver the page.

What is the difference between HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3?

HTTP/1.1 handles requests largely one at a time per connection. HTTP/2 multiplexes many requests over a single connection and compresses headers, and HTTP/3 does the same over the faster QUIC transport. This checker detects which version the site serves and whether HTTP/3 is advertised.

How to check a website's HTTP version

  1. Enter the domain in the box above.
  2. Click Check HTTP Version.
  3. Check whether HTTP/2 (or HTTP/3) is used.
  4. If only HTTP/1.1 is served, enable HTTP/2 in your server or put the site behind a CDN that supports it.

Related checks

Most hosts and CDNs offer HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 at no extra cost - if you are still on HTTP/1.1, ask your provider to enable them. JustChecker keeps measuring response time so you can see the effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

It sends many files over one connection at the same time, instead of queuing them. Pages with lots of images, scripts and styles load noticeably quicker.

It needs HTTPS. On Nginx add http2 to the listen 443 line; Apache uses mod_http2. Most modern hosts and all major CDNs have it on already.

It runs over QUIC instead of TCP, which recovers better from lost packets - a real gain on mobile networks. CDNs such as Cloudflare offer it with one switch.
