Enter a domain to read the expiry date straight from its live certificate - handy for checking that automatic renewal actually worked.

How do I find out when an SSL certificate expires?

Enter the domain above and the checker reads the certificate the server is using right now and shows its expiry date and the number of days remaining. Once a certificate expires, browsers show a full-page security warning, so knowing the date in advance prevents an avoidable outage.

How to use the SSL expiry checker

  1. Enter the domain you want to check in the box above.
  2. Click Check Expiry.
  3. Read the expiry date and the days remaining.
  4. If fewer than 30 days remain, renew the certificate or confirm your automatic renewal (for example Let's Encrypt / certbot) is running.

Frequently Asked Questions

Plan to renew with at least 2-4 weeks to spare. Automated certificates usually renew about 30 days before the end, so a certificate under 20 days often means renewal has failed.

The web server is probably still using the old file. Reload or restart it (for example sudo systemctl reload nginx) so it picks up the new certificate, then check again.

Yes - add the site to JustChecker monitoring and you get an email well before the certificate runs out, so you never find out from a visitor.
