What is a TLD?

A TLD (top-level domain) is the last part of a domain name, such as .com, .org or .in. Each TLD is run by a registry operator that sets its rules and prices. This tool shows the registry operator and WHOIS server for the extension of the domain you enter.

How to look up TLD information

  1. Enter a domain with the extension you are interested in, for example example.in.

  3. Read the registry operator and the WHOIS server that holds registration data for that extension.
  4. Country-code TLDs (like .in or .uk) may have local presence or eligibility rules - check them before registering.
